Perseverance in Action: An Update on the Health Service District

In any community effort, especially one that matters deeply to the people it serves, progress doesn’t always happen quickly or easily. Sometimes, it requires patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep showing up—even when the path forward feels longer than expected. That is where we find ourselves today with the Platte Canyon Health Service District.
As many of you know, a citizens committee has been working toward a simple goal: asking the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to allow a ballot measure so residents can vote on the creation of a medical clinic in Bailey to serve the Platte Canyon area of Park County. At its heart, this effort is about giving the community a voice in an issue that directly impacts local healthcare access.
Following the March 16 hearing, it was determined that not all submitted letters and emails had been provided in advance to the committee for rebuttal. Because of this, and as required by law, an additional session has been scheduled to allow that rebuttal before a final decision is made. While this means another step in the process, it also reflects the importance of ensuring that all information is fully considered.
Perseverance often looks like this—continuing forward, staying engaged, and trusting the process even when it takes more time than anticipated. Each meeting, each conversation, and each step ensures that the outcome is thoughtful and complete.
