Third Time. Still Standing. Still Asking to Vote.
Some issues are too important to walk away from.
For three years, volunteers in the Platte Canyon community have worked to bring forward a proposal for a Platte Canyon Health Service District — not for automatic approval, not for political endorsement — but for one simple reason:
🗳 To let WE the people vote.
Each year, we have addressed the concerns raised by the Park County Board of County Commissioners. We’ve revised language. We’ve clarified structure. We’ve ensured transparency. The current Platte Canyon Health Service Plan meets all statutory requirements outlined in C.R.S. 32-19-106(2).
By law, this issue is to be determined by the people.
And that is all we are asking for. To put it on the ballot, so that WE the people can vote.
This Is About Access — and About Rights
Healthcare access in Platte Canyon is more limited now than it was last year. Options have narrowed. Providers have left. Residents are often driving close to an hour into the city just to see a doctor.
That is not sustainable.
It is not practical.
And it is not what our community deserves.
A health service district would give Platte Canyon the ability to pursue local healthcare solutions closer to home. But first, we must be allowed to decide whether we want to pursue it.
If it affects us — we should have the right to vote on it.
Let We the People decide.
Attend the BOCC Hearing on March 16th at 12:00 PM
When: Monday, March 16th at 12:00 PM
Where: Park County Board of County Commissioners Hearing
856 Costello Ave, Fairplay
This hearing is our opportunity to finally get the proposal placed on the ballot this fall. For the last two years, we were not given that opportunity. We cannot afford to be silent.
We need to show up — respectfully, firmly, and in force.
Bring a friend.
Bring a neighbor.
Carpool if you can.
Let’s fill the room. Let’s demonstrate that this is not a small issue. Let’s show that healthcare access matters in Platte Canyon.
This is about persistence.
This is about fairness.
This is about our community’s right to decide its own future.
Third time’s the charm.
