For the past 15 years, the Platte Canyon area has gone without a local medical provider. Not because the need isn’t there—over 10,000 residents live in Bailey, Shawnee, Grant, and Pine Junction—but because funding has been out of reach.
That could soon change.
A volunteer, community-led effort is gaining momentum with a clear goal: to establish the Platte Canyon Health Service District. This proposed district would bring a full-time primary care clinic to Bailey, offering much-needed access to doctors and essential healthcare services, including urgent care and mental health support—right here at home.
The proposal, spearheaded by the Platte Canyon Health District Committee, aims to create a sustainable, community-supported healthcare system tailored to the unique needs of Northeast Park County. But before it can go to a public vote this November, it must first be approved by the Park County Board of County Commissioners.
This isn’t just about opening a clinic. It’s about giving our community access to the care we deserve, where and when we need it. For too long, residents have had to drive long distances for basic health needs. With your support, that could change.
